BAEGSAN SERIES

DefinitionBaeksan Series, the alluvial soil in clay loam series, is classified into the fine loamy, non-acid, mesic family of Dystric Fluventic Eutrochrepts, by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is brown or dark brown loam or sandy loam. The subsoil is brown or dark brown loam or silty loam. It has an argillic horizon, which is weakly developed. The sub base is yellowish-brown or dark brown clay loam and has a partially mixed layer with sandy loam. It is distributed on valleys and alluvial fans with granite as the parent material of the soil.

SACHON SERIES

DefinitionSachon Series, the alluvial soil in moderately coarse textured soil series, is classified into coarse-loamy, mixed, non-acid, mesic Family of Aeric Fluventic Haplaquepts by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is very dark greyish-brown loam and slightly thick. The subsoil layer is yellowish-brown sandy loam, having dark greyish brown mottle, and its thickness is generally observed level. The sub base is dark greyish-brown loam or sandy loam with yellowish-red or dark brown mottles. The Sachon Series was formed with the alluvial layer along valleys, caused by granite being the parent material. It is distributed on the alluvial fans along valleys and foot slopes.

JEONBUK SERIES

DefinitionThe Jeonbuk Series, the grey soil in silty clay loam soil series, is classified into fine silty, mixed, non-acid, mesic Family of Aeric Fluventic Haplaquepts, by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is grey or dark greyish-brown silty clay loam and forms a slightly thick layer. The subsoil is the yellowish-brown silty clay loam with grey mottles and forms the layer of general depth. The sub base is the dark brown or dark greenish-grey fine clay loam with a small quantity of dark greenish-grey mottles or no mottles and forms a very thick layer. It is distributed on the fluvio-marine flat level.

MANGYEONG SERIES

DefinitionThe Mangyeong Series, the grey soil in moderately coarse textured silty soil series, is classified into coarse silty, mixed, nonacid, mesic Family of Fluventic Haplaquepts in accordance with the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The top soil is grey or dark greyish-brown silty clay loam. The subsoil is the yellowish-brown silty clay loam with various colors. The subbase is the dark grey or greenish-grey silty clay loam with small quantity of mottles or no mottles. It is distributed on the flat level with fluvio-marine alluvial layers being the parent soil.

YONGJI SERIES

DefinitionThe Yongji Series, the reddish-yellow soil in clay loam soil series, is classified into fine loamy, mixed, mesic Family of Aeric Fluventic Haplaquepts, by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is greyish-brown silty clay loam and forms a slightly thick layer. The subsoil is the yellowish-brown silty clay loam with grey mottles and forms a thick layer. The sub base forms a mixed layer with silty clay loam, clay loam or sandy loam with greyish-brown mottles. It is distributed on valleys and alluvial fans with local alluvium as the parent material of the soil.

GIMJE SERIES

DefinitionThe Gimje Series, the grey soil in silty clay loam soil series, is classified into fine clayey over fine silty, mixed, non-acid, mesic Family of Aeric Fluventic Haplaquepts, by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is greyish-brown silty clay loam and forms a slightly thick layer. The subsoil is the grey or dark grey silty clay loam and slightly acid or alkaline. The sub base is the greenish-grey silty loam or silty clay loam. the subsoil is below 20cm thick and 50 to 70cm from the topsoil. It is distributed on the flat level with fluvio-marine deposit as the parent material of the soil.

SAMGAG SERIES

DefinitionThe Samgak Series, the lithosol in moderately coarse-textured soil series, is classified into coarse loamy, mesic Family of Tyjpic Distrochrepts by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is brown sandy loam and the subsoil is dark brown or yellowish-brown sandy loam. The sub base is yellowish-brown sandy loam or loamy sand, which are very thick rock particles. The parent material of the soil are granite eluvium. It is distributed on the hills or mountains.

MUNPO SERIES

DefinitionThe Munpo Series, the saline soil in moderately coarse textured soil series, is classified into the coarse loamy, mixed, nonacid, mesic family of Typic Fluvaquents by the new classification by the US Department of Agriculture. The topsoil is olive grey fine sandy loam with brown mottles. The subsoil is the grey loamy fine sand with blurry olive mottles on the top but without mottles at the top. It is distributed on the flat level with the fluvio-marine alluvial layer as the parent soil.
