Development of Special Rice Varieties

  • JBARES is concentrating on developing new varieties of black rice, flavor rice, and glutinous rice.
    • Black rice(5 varieties): Sinmyeongheukchal, Sinnongheukchal, Sintoheukmi, Heukhyangchal No. 1 and Dream Heukhyangchal
    • Aromatic rice: Sibrihyang
    • Glutinous rice: Dabokchal

Development of New Mushroom Varieties

  • Sparassis Crispa and golden oyster mushrooms were developed. JBARES focuses on the development of new varieties, which have longer storage periods and shorter growing periods.

    • Oyster Mushroom (Aul, Hwanghwa): Patent Application (2012 and 2013, respectively)

Development of New Horticultural Varieties

JBARES has been contributing to the improvement of income by developing and distributing good varieties including roses, lilies, chrysanthemums, freesias, gypsophilas and sea lavender to farmers.

Breeding of new industrial cash crop in reclaimed land ’Saemangeum’

  • JBARES has developed a Kenaf variety that can replace imported varieties. This breed is highly biomass productive and seed can be harvested. We are planning the following varieties.
